This is my letter as it was printed in the San Jose Mercury News
Some say John Edwards should quit. I say he should not, because too many have not had their voice heard yet in this Primary. And I am proud to say, that this same point of view is held by none other than Martin Luther King III.
John Edwards has been outspoken about poverty in America and in the world as one of our most pressing moral issues, and he has done so with a forthrightness, steadfastness and determination that none of the other candidates have shown or have come even close to showing or understanding.
King gave recognition to John Edwards in a very eloquent and moving letter, dated January 20, 2008 .
"I urge you: keep going. Ignore the pundits, who think this is a horserace, not a fight for justice. My dad was a fighter. As a friend and a believer in my father's words that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, I say to you: keep going. Keep fighting. My father would be proud."
